EduBud Community Center

As young adults with disabilities transition into adulthood, access to safe, inclusive, and engaging opportunities often becomes limited. The EduBud Community Center provides a welcoming space where members can continue to learn, grow, connect, and contribute by offering integrated programs designed to foster development, autonomy, and sustained community participation.

Supporting Individuals of All Abilities

EduBud is committed to providing high-quality education for everyone. Starting August 2025, we will offer in-person Adult Day Services in a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for adults (ages 18 and older) with:

Blue Class Schedule

Independent Living & Community Skills

Designed for individuals who demonstrate a higher level of independence and are ready to build upon functional, social, vocational, and community-living skills. Participants practice making choices, completing tasks more independently, communicating with others, and participating actively in community-based activities.

Program Hours: 10:00 AM - 2:30 PM (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday)

Schedule for EDU BUD Community Center with days and times for various activities like meetings, academics, sports, workshops, reflection, and dismissal.

✳︎ Community Skills Thursdays

At EduBud, learning goes beyond the classroom! Community Skills Thursdays, held every other Thursday, give participants opportunities to practice independence, communication, social interaction, and everyday life skills in real-world settings. Outings may include visits to parks, restaurants, libraries, stores, museums, recreational activities, and other community locations. Through these experiences, participants can apply what they learn, explore their community, build confidence, and connect with their peers.

At EduBud, learning also means making meaningful connections. Fun Fridays, held on the last Friday of each month, give participants opportunities to practice social interaction, communication, collaboration, and self-expression through shared activities and experiences. Activities may include games, themed events, group activities, special projects, and occasional community outings. Through these experiences, participants can build friendships, explore new interests, strengthen confidence, and create meaningful memories together.

Green Class Schedule

Supported Learning & Life Skills

Designed for individuals who benefit from more individualized support, repetition, structure, and hands-on instruction throughout their day. Programming focuses on foundational communication, functional academics, sensory regulation, fine motor skills, daily living skills, social participation, and increasing independence at each participant’s own pace.

Program Hours: 10:15 AM - 2:20 PM (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday)

✳︎ Sensory Wellness Learning Time

At EduBud, we recognize that meaningful learning also requires opportunities to slow down, regulate, and recharge. We incorporate dedicated sensory and wellness activities into the daily routine, including afternoon meditation walks and structured library time.

✳︎ Individual AAC Learning & 1:1 Communication Practice

Students who use or are learning to use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) receive dedicated 1:1 learning and practice opportunities based on their individual communication needs. During individualized AAC instruction, participants work on becoming familiar with their device, locating useful words and phrases, making choices, requesting preferred items or activities, expressing wants and needs, greeting others, answering simple questions, and participating in everyday interactions.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Because EduBud is a community-based educational and social program, rather than a medical or intensive behavioral treatment facility, participants must be able to safely participate within our available level of staffing and support.

  • To share information about the participant's Communication needs, Level of independence, Behavioral and emotional support needs, Medical or safety considerations, Elopement/wandering concerns, Aggression or self-injurious behaviors, if applicable, Toileting and personal-care needs, Sensory needs and triggers, Strategies that help with regulation, Allergies, medications, and emergency information. Providing complete and accurate information helps our team determine how we can best support each participant and keep everyone safe.

  • Respecting peers, instructors, volunteers, and personal space, Following basic safety directions, Participating in activities at their individual ability level, Communicating needs appropriately, with support when needed, Taking turns and participating in group activities, Using appropriate strategies or requesting breaks when overwhelmed. We understand that every participant communicates, learns, and regulates differently. Needing accommodations, breaks, visual supports, repeated directions, or additional processing time is completely okay.

  • Both Blue Class and Green Class are designed to help participants build meaningful life skills, confidence, communication, and greater independence. The main difference is the level and type of support provided.

    Neither class is considered “better” or “lower” than the other. Placement is based on the participant’s current level of independence, learning style, communication needs, and the amount of support they benefit from. Both programs share the same goal: helping each participant continue developing skills and becoming more independent at their own pace.

  • Consistent attendance helps participants become familiar with their routine, instructors, and peers. Families should notify EduBud as early as possible regarding absences, late arrivals, early pickups, transportation changes, or other schedule changes. Please keep emergency contacts and important participant information up to date.

  • A diagnosis alone does not determine whether someone is a good fit for EduBud. We look at the whole person, their strengths, interests, communication style, independence, support needs, and ability to safely participate in our community.  Our goal is to create an environment where participants can belong, learn, grow, and be themselves.

  • Edubud offers Buddy Program Projects that connect our participants with well-trained Buddy Partners who are highly skilled and prepared to work with individuals in the special needs community. Buddies provide encouragement, companionship, and support during activities, community outings, and other special social experiences. Volunteers may also participate in special events, community service projects, and other meaningful opportunities that promote friendship, independence, and inclusion.
